On Wednesday 11th April, Rosie visited Malvern Library to see the exhibition of finished works from the ‘Let’s See’ art project hosted by artist Marian Edwards with Sight Concern Worcestershire. Marian became partially sighted in 2015, but has continued to teach art and produce work despite of her sight loss. With funding and support from Intouch Global Foundation, she has conducted a 10 week project of tours and talks at Worcester Museum and Art Gallery, practical drawing and painting workshops at Sight Concern, and a final exhibition.
It is easy for people with full sight to think about the limitations sight loss brings, but despite one of the 5 senses being inhibited, people are still very capable. Marian said in her speech that, “art is a great tool to stimulate the brain and refocus the mind,” and ‘Let’s See,’ exhibition proves that a visual impairment does not restrict people from creating visually wonderful things.
